Ivy Tech Degrees & Certificates

The following seven degrees/certificates are awarded by the College to students who meet graduation requirements.

  1. Associate of Arts (AA)
  2. Associate of Fine Arts (AFA)
  3. Associate of General Studies (AGS)
  4. Associate of Science (AS)
  5. Associate of Applied Science (AAS)
  6. Technical Certificate (TC)
  7. Certificate (CT)

Graduation Requirements

To graduate with one of the above degrees or certificates, the student must:

  1. Attain a minimum grade point average of 2.00;
  2. Meet the residency requirement for the degree. See your degree audit for details;
  3. Successfully complete the required number of credits;
  4. Satisfy all financial obligations due the College; and
  5. Satisfy program accreditation standards that may have additional requirements.

Apply for Graduation

Each student entering the final semester prior to graduation must complete an Application for Graduation. You can apply online through MyIvy by following these easy steps:

  1. Log into MyIvy
  2. Go to Tools and Resources
  3. Search for “Apply to Graduate”

Honors Students

The College recognizes three levels of honors for graduating students, based upon cumulative Grade Point Average:

4.00 Summa Cum Laude
3.75-3.99 Magna Cum Laude
3.50-3.74 Cum Laude

Calculation of academic honors, if listed for publication in the graduation ceremony program, will be as of the semester prior to graduation. Honors recorded on the transcript will include the graduation term in the calculation.

Preparing for Commencement

  • When inquiring about commencement or graduation, it’s important to note the difference between the two terms.

    • Graduation is the completion of your degree
    • Commencement is the ceremony where you are recognized for having graduated

  • Where to Order:

    herff.ly/ivytech

    You must have a cap and gown as well as a tassel in order to participate in the ceremony. Students who do not have a cap and gown will not be permitted to participate, so pay close attention to the ordering deadlines. If you require assistance in acquiring your cap and gown, please fill out this form.

    CAP & GOWN DEADLINES:

    1st Deadline: April 7
    2nd/Final Deadline: April 17
    *Your cap and gown will be shipped to your home address within 2 weeks.
